Bar and Restaurant
We prepare fresh seasonal products so you can taste what nature has to offer; fruit and vegetables are grown right in Fossalon, and the fish gets caught by the fishermen living at the village nearby, Punta Sdobba.
We operate in a tight zero-mile farming system, and we can literally go and pick up our products with a wheelbarrow! This way even the simplest dish has a special flavour: The original one.
Our spaces are designed to let you enjoy the nearby environment in each and every moment: Large halls with lots of exposure to natural light, sight views, and a venue for parties, dinner parties or business events.
Reservations are required for dinner.
Hotel
Falling asleep in absolute silence, waking up to the birds chirping, this is what we call experiencing nature. There are only ten rooms to keep the ambiance cosy and intimate, so that each guest can feel at home here.
All rooms have a view on the mouth of the river and they all have private bathroom, a phone, TV, hairdryer, A/C, a minibar, Wi-Fi. You can choose among three different options for breakfast to start the day with the best. All ingredients are zero-mile locally-sourced.
You are also welcome to bring your own bicycle: At the Caneo you will find room where you can lock your bike indoor during the night.
Other Attractions
The Caneo Bar - Restaurant - Hotel relies on several structures to enable guests to explore the "Foce dell'Isonzo" Natural Reserve:
- a practical boardwalk that goes on to a suggestive short way along the reeds. Walk through it and catch a close look to the life in the wetlands near the mouth of the river.
- the boardwalk leads to a dock to which you can moor your boat. You can sail along the river to see it flow into the sea, or continue to the canals of the "Venetian Litoranea" waterway, which will bring you to the Lagoon of Grado.
- by walking along a small road you will reach a watchtower, from where you can admire the Gulf of Trieste; you will also get a chance to observe very closely the river banks emerging from the water when the tide is low. The banks shelter a large variety of birds.
- bicycles are available for guests for free to explore the whereabouts, and to ride on the bike route that leads to the Grado town, which is 15 kilometers away. The bike route has lots of nice sights on the wetlands and on the countryside.

The Natural Reserve "Isola della Cona" is reachable with a 15-kilometer trip from the Caneo overland, and with a 10-minute boat trip. There you can admire the Camargue horses and a modern structure with bird-watching huts, dioramas and sensory paths (www.riservafoceisonzo.it - this website is currently only available in Italian). At 5 kilometers away from the Caneo there is another natural reserve, the one from Valle Cavanata, deemed "Wetland of International Importance" since 1978. ( www.vallecavanata.it - this website, too, is in Italian only at the time being).
